The Civil Service Commission (CSC) revealed that 6,250 Kuwaiti citizens have registered in its central system for employment in ministers and governmental agencies between October 16 and October 30, Al Rai reported.

A source told Al Rai that, “the CSC has begun reviewing the files and by the end of the month they will begin nominating applicants based on the needs of the governmental agencies and the applicant’s qualifications.”

Many young Kuwaitis are having a hard time finding jobs in recent years with youth unemployment rising. As of this year, youth unemployment hit an all time high reaching to about 16 per cent.

According to a recent report by the Civil Service Commission, around 79 per cent of all employees working in the public sector are Kuwaitis.

Since 2017, Kuwait has been working towards achieving Kuwaitization, a policy that aims at replacing all expats working in the public sector so that 100 per cent of the governmental employees are Kuwaitis by 2021.
