UAE has confirmed 300 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases over the past 24 hour

The total number of infected persons to 2,659, the health ministry spokeswoman said on Wednesday. UAE health sector official spokesperson Dr Farida Al Hosani said 12 have died and 53 patients have made a full recovery, taking the total to 239. She said the UAE has started using the application ‘Stay Home’ to monitor people in-home quarantine and urged everyone to make use of the app, noting that the drive-through testing centres in Abu Dhabi have been successful.

“Preparations are ongoing to have drive-through testing centres in all emirates,” Dr Al Hosani said.

“Priority at the facilities is given to the elderly, disabled and those with respiratory conditions,” she said, adding that people should wear masks while at the testing centres.

She continued to urge everyone to follow the precautionary measures implemented by the government to help slow the spread of the deadly virus

With the completion of 539,195 screenings over the past several weeks, Health Minister Abdul Rahman al-Owais said that test numbers would double over the coming period, adding that the number reflects the strength of the healthcare system and shows the country’s dedication to fighting the new virus.

“The health and safety of the citizens and residents is a priority,” he said. “It is a national responsibility that we all share.”

The UAE announced on Saturday the extension of the nationwide disinfection programme until further notice, while Dubai extended the temporary closure of commercial activities in the emirate until April 18.
