Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah stressed on Tuesday the importance of expatriates’ work in Kuwait, which boosts economy and progress.

Kuwait is keen to provide support and security for the foreign workers, Al-Jarallah responding to a question during seminar for elderly people hosted by the Foreign Ministry.

Al-Jarallah pointed out that Kuwait has laws to protect the expats and ways to enhance their status.

Kuwait will officially announce its position over joining an international coalition to protect maritime navigation in the Arab Gulf region once it finished examining details of such a coalition, a senior diplomat said Tuesday.

Kuwait has not announced its official position whether to join the proposed coalition or not “but practical practices show that Kuwait is not far from this coalition,” said Khaled Al-Jarallah, Deputy Foreign Minister.

He was speaking to reporters on sidelines of a seminar about elderly care. Al-Jarallah said Kuwait has taken part in meetings in Manama, Bahrain, and Tampa, Florida, regarding the coalition.

He underlined that Kuwait would continue to participate in any coalition-related meetings.
