A Syrian expatriate was arrested for attempting to smuggle 8,000 Captagon pills into the country by hiding them in the engine of the heavy vehicle he was driving.

According to Director of Land Customs Department Meshan Al-Saedi, the heavy vehicle arrived at Abdali border checkpoint where it was subjected to thorough inspection using the detection devices available at the checkpoint.

These devices signaled the presence of some strange items inside the engine of the heavy vehicle.

Customs officers then checked the engine of the vehicle to find four huge rolls, each containing two bags.

Each bag had about 1,000 Captagon pills.

The driver was arrested and referred with the confiscated pills to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. Ministry of Interior has been notified about the discovery.
