The overall remittances sent by expatriates dropped by KD 424 million last year in comparison to figures from 2016.

According to official statistics released by the Kuwaiti Central Bank (KCB), expatriate workers sent back home KD4.142 billion ($13.7 billion).

In 2016, migrant workers’ remittances topped KD 4.566 billion, according to Alqabas, which cited the (KCB) official statistics.

The oil exports generated around KD14.951 billion last year, which represented 89.4% of Kuwait’s overall exports.
