Commerce and Industry Minister Khalid Al Roudhan is set to be grilled by MPs Al Humaidi Al Subaei and Mubarak Al Hajraf over allegations of financial and administrative violations.
The two lawmakers on Tuesday said that Al Roudhan had not heeded their warnings against irregularities in his ministry that allegedly included abuse of public funds, favouritism and outside influence.
Speaker Marzouq Al Ghanem said the grilling would be on the agenda of the parliament session on March 19.
If the lawmakers endorse the motion to quiz the minister, he will be joining his grandfather and father who had to face questions from MPs.
The grandfather, Abdullah Al Roudhan, was grilled on May 29, 1963.
He was the minister of social affairs and development and MP Mohammad Ahmad Al Rasheed quizzed him over 30 plots of land in Adailiya, a suburb of the capital Kuwait City.
The father, Nasser Al Roudhan, was the deputy prime minister and the minister of finance when in 1997 he had to face a grilling by MPs Sami Al Manais, Mashari Al Asaimi and Ahmad Al Melaifi about the reduction of rents for industrial projects and chalets built on state lands.
Khalid Al Roudhan said following the filing of the motion that he would deal with the quizzing in accordance with the constitution.
