A criminal court in Kuwait has awarded a four-year imprisonment sentence with hard labor to a prisoner who impersonated prominent sheikhs and businessmen to swindle millions of dinars, local media reported on Sunday.
The man, who impersonated sheikhs from the ruling family as well as businessmen, and was able to obtain millions of dinars from famous people, sports players, and artists through the operations he carried out from inside his cell in the Central Prison.

In its ruling, the court, presided by Judge Abdullah Al-Othman, sentenced the inmate to four-year imprisonment with hard labor, and asked him to return the money, which amounts to more than KD4 million (SR48 million or $13 million approximately).
The court also sentenced seven other defendants with varying jail terms, considering two of them as his accomplices, and they were charged with money laundering.
The court also decided to refer the case to a civil court, where compensation for the victims was requested and the size of the damages was ascertained.
Many famous people and social media influencers were present at the court were victims of the fake sheikh, who is in his twenties and is already serving a 19-year prison sentence due to other fraud charges.
