Kuwait to invest 20 bln USD in civil aviation in decade: official

A Kuwaiti official said on Tuesday that his country is expected to invest 20 billion U.S. dollars in the civil aviation in the next decade, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

The announcement was made by Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, president of Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation, during the ongoing Global Aviation Summit in Mumbai, India.

According to Sheikh Salman, the investments will be used to improve the capacity of Kuwait International Airport and related services.

The newly-opened passenger Terminal 4 at the airport can now accommodate 4.5 million passengers a year, he said.

A new air traffic control tower of the airport is under construction, the Kuwaiti official added.

The Global Aviation Summit, which kicked off on Tuesday in Mumbai, brought together airplane manufacturers, investors, bank officials and skill development agencies from different parts of the world.
