Police officials are regularly monitoring the situation and have dispersed various public gatherings in the past few days, local daily Kuwait Times reported, citing the Interior Ministry.
Police officers remain “on the highest alert” to deal with any violation on the ban on gatherings, a spokesperson said, noting that necessary legal action will be taken against violators.
Kuwait reopened its economy in phases following a strict lockdown, with the five-month-long curfew ending on Aug 30, 2020. However, restrictions remain on public gatherings including weddings and parties.
However, the cabinet is mulling the possibility of reintroducing lockdowns or other measures to curb the spread of the virus, the report stated.
Kuwait’s Health Ministry announced 548 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total number of infections to 111,116.
It also reported three additional deaths, taking the death toll to 658.
Total recoveries stand at 103,268, with 7,190 patients receiving treatment as of Sunday.
