Chairman of the parliamentary Financial and Economic Affairs Committee MP Ahmed Al-Hamad submitted a proposal to establish a public sector university to compete with Kuwait University.

He suggested that the new public university should be established according to the latest global criteria and to recruit experienced and competent national and foreign academic professionals for this university.

He also proposed linking the amount of subsidy granted to private companies with their contributions to the diversification of the economy and recruitment of national workers.

He recommended lifting the subsidy of companies with excessive import of materials and commodities and those functioning as commercial dealers between the foreign producer and local customer.

He recommended as well the formation of a committee consisting of academic staff from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, as well as Kuwait University, to develop the curricula to be in line with the actual manpower needs of the local labor market.
