Just a few days after the Embassy of Kuwait in Beirut issued an advisory for its citizens to leave Lebanon, the Lebanese security agencies on Thursday found the bodies of two Kuwaitis, who were apparently murdered as they sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of their bodies, inside the employees’ accommodation at Laredo Restaurant in Dhahar Al-Wahsh, East Beirut, reports Al-Seyassah.

Preliminary investigation revealed the restaurant belonged to the victims while the circumstances surrounding the murder were not immediately known — whether it was politically motivated, an act of terrorism or a criminal action. According to Lebanon’s Watania Media Agency, the victims were identified as Hussein Nassar (born in 1958) and Nabeel Ghareeb (born in 1960).

It revealed the security officers cordoned off the place before starting investigations to establish the circumstances and motives behind the killing. Head of the investigation Rami Abdullah was at the crime scene during the initial investigation.

It has also been reported that the wife of one of the victims lost contact with him in the past two days, prompting her to report to the embassy which contacted security agencies and this resulted in the discovery of the victims’ bodies.

Other information obtained disclosed that the victims were in Al-Kahala some days ago to register a real estate property, where they live on their own, under their names. Sources added there were no signs of forced entry in the crime scene or torture marks on the victims’ bodies.

Meanwhile, Lebanese security sources stressed it is too early to talk about political motives behind the murder, whereas the Kuwaiti Embassy continues to communicate with the highest level of authority to determine the motive behind the killing and to arrest all those involved.

Also in a press statement, Head of Al-Kahala Municipality George Bajani asserted the killing of the two Kuwaitis is a criminal act, not politically- motivated.
